Where we play...! |
|
| TASK FORCE 72 has no fixed abode, however, there are a number of places you can find us. | |
Wentworth Falls |
|
| Map
TASK FORCE 72 generally operates from Wentworth Falls Lake in the beautiful Blue Mountains approximately 60km west of Sydney. It is located on Sinclair Crescent, approx ½ a Kilometre north-west of the township of Wentworth Falls, which is just off the Great Western Highway. (UBD Reference-Blue Mountains Section / Map21 / G7). Turn right into Station Street, through the Wentworth Falls shopping area and over the railway bridge then the first left. Major events such as our annual regatta are well signposted. |

Moss Vale |
|
| Map
TASK FORCE 72 also operates at our additional venue at "Southern Highland Winery", Moss Vale, NSW. This new lake is situated approx 5 minutes drive south west of Moss Vale in the Southern Highlands. It is located just off Oldbury Road, Suttons Forest in the grounds of the "Southern Highlands Wines" Vineyard. A 6 x 4 metre concrete wharf has been constructed to enable the launch of all types of ships, and more facilities will be added in the future. To get there, simply take the Mittagong turn off from Sydney on the Hume Highway and head towards Bowral, then through Moss Vale on the main road. The winery is on the right hand side of Oldbury Road, so simply look out for the signs to Southern Highlands Wines. If you wish to check out the new facilities, or you enjoy a drop of very good wine, stop in at the winery, where Eddie Rossi and his staff will be happy to look after you. Watch these pages for more information on the new lake as things progress in the months to come. For some some photos of the weekends activities, please check out the updated members gallery. |

Manly Dam |
|
| Map
The map above is a description of the area that we have at our disposal (section / area 1 of the Dam). Typically, I sail in this area when I can get a sail in before work and I know the water there is pretty clear of weed. The anchorage is a sandy bottom, similar to WWFs, with some small shale/ rocks on the bottom. This area is zoned as a Swimming Area, which means there is little in the way of submerged rocks. The prevailing wind is generally from the NE, so the anchorage should be well protected from wind. However, the last two times I sailed here the wind was more from the NW and this caused significant chop just to the North of the remembrance monument. The organisers have requested that if we could anchor as near as possible behind the monument, this would be nice and create the best opportunity for photo ops with the monument. However, this will depend, to some degree on the wind direction. If a NW blows, anything to the N of the monument will be popping greenies. Even if it does blow there is some good protection further around near the TF72 table /area. Last time I took my DE out for a test run into the NW wind I had water over the bridge!
