TF72 Running Day, Mt Penand Botanical Gardens, Gosford 2006 Photo Gallery |
|||
Sunday's run at Mt Penang, Central Coast, started out a glorious classic spring day, but having committed myself to supplying "some weather" I organised a southerly buster typhoon to sweep in at 1.00 pm, it was 10 minutes late, but had the un-desired effect of ruining the rest of the day, fortunately there were no boats on the water at the time, as we were just finishing lunch & about to resume playing, there was a mad scramble to stop the tent from blowing away , with Phil Somerville connected to it. Chairs & loose equipment were flung in a northerly direction, & I believe someone's half eaten lunch ended up in my back yard, great, won't have to concern myself about breakfast! As for the nice half of the day, about a dozen members turned up with a good supply of wives, thank you for your support ladies, you make a pleasant day more so. 5 members came up from south of the Hawkesbury, & I think they brought the majority of boats with them. I estimate about 20 boats on site, I didn't count them because at one time I thought I was seeing in triplicate, 3 flower class corvettes !! & I swear I wasn't drinking. Found out later it was FBHC members Bruce Murphy & Richard Dawson taking sailing lessons from Jim (broken anchor) Campion !!! Now That's scary !!! & yes, before y'all jump in, after my Indian in the Island episode the other week, I do have my cross-eyed sights set on Jim's coveted award. Har Har ! (I've got it now-November 2006) Newish member Richard Dawson from Newcastle attended his first running day with 2 outstanding models, one of the flowers which is not yet finished & a magnificent U-boat ( a surface runner ) which you u guys are gunna drool over, the artistry & weathering is just " WOW". Photos never eventuated from me thanks to weather, did anyone else get photos of Richards models? Thanks to all who attended, & those who went to the Dog Pond instead, we understand, but hope you had a miserable half day also.
Cheers, Click on a photo to enlarge. [Back to Post Mission Reviews] - Photos and Report courtesy of Allan Pew |
