The usual group of suspects turned up at Manly Dam on Saturday morning
for the September Royal Navy & Type 12 inaugural run. Well, until after
lunch, the water was RN territory or covered in variants of the mighty
Type 12 hull. Then Carl arrived with his Russian spy trawler which is
possibly the fastest Flower class hull around and Roy with his lovely
tatty and extraordinarily fast Russian corvette. David Jenkins’ HMCS
Rustbucket now has a modern rival for the tattiest model award.
The run was fun & uneventful except for Allan proving that you can’t
take a photograph & control your boat at the same time. Aiming your
camera and Lincoln at your photographic subject really increases the
owner’s heart rate. Ask John who was getting increasingly frantic as
Lincoln hurtled towards Ardent while Allan was cheerfully taking a photo
of it.
Attending were Allan Pew (HMS Lincoln & INS Taragiri), Michael Brown
(HMS Tartar & RMAS Lamlash), Geoff Eastwood (HMS Leander & INS
Godavari), John Slater (HMS Ardent), Roy Matialliano (Tarantul Class
Corvette) and Carl Linkenbagh (Titan or whatever that is in Russian).
Words graciously provided by the esteemed Mssr Brown.
