Hi All, Remember, the easier you can make things for us, ie by
following these steps closely, the quicker you get your mission reports
on the web!
Send your photos and comments to the person who ran the event, and
they will co-ordinate and send them to us in a bundle.
So, in order for us to display your Mission Review on the web promptly, please follow the following steps:
 |
Write your mission report main body in a text editor or Program such as Word,
or even better, a text file. Elaborate formatting
is not recommended, as it will not end up on the website. |
 |
two copies of each photo you wish on the web are required. One should be no larger than 640x480 and
the other is to be no larger than 230x173. Label these photos in such a way as to obviously identify
the photo - your webmaster is not going to recognise one boat from another! When you label the photos,
please do not make the names long, and do not put spaces in the name, as a matter of fact, the best
name for the photos is whatever your camera calls them, putting a "lrg" or "sml" on each photo to
denote them. For example, DSC00444.jpg becomes DSC00444lrg.jpg for the 640x480 photo and
DSC00444sml.jpg for the 230x173 photo. |
 |
The other thing is for portrait photos, instead of making the width 230, make the height 230, and let the
size/length be whatever the program makes it for the other dimension
(ie keeping the ratio the same)... Otherwise the filesize blows out and the image is a lot bigger than
the landscape shots. (so, large photo normally 640 wide, but if portrait image then make 640 wide - small photo
230 wide, portrait image 230 high) |
 |
When you save the picture files, if in Photoshop either "Save for Web" or save with a Medium resolution
(we normally use "6") - this makes the size of the picture file smaller, so we can get more pikkies on the website!
If you are not using Photoshop, whatever your picture editor
is, please make the resolution around medium, to get the
file size smaller (<100kb is good for the large
photo) |
 |
For each photo, write a short sentence describing that photo in some way, identifying the photo in
the description. For example, you would write:
DSC00444.jpg - this is a picture of a boat. |
 |
That's it - now bundle the lot up in a zip file or just email the lot to us
at this address and if you have
followed the above instructions correctly, we will pop your mission report up promptly. Remember, the
closer you follow these instructions the sooner your mission report is posted!
cheers, your webmaster. |
