I have to say that while its a big day for the RN (though not as big as they are making out to be) it has been 8 years since they scrapped the Sea Harrier fleet in a politically inspired moment of idiocy, and are now having to reconstitute fixed wing VSTOL carrier capability from the ground up.
Not a sterling moment in British Defence decision making there.
I also note that on the current RN timelines QE 2 won't be ready to be declared operationally capable for at least another 2 years.
