Australia Day, January 26th, Australia's national day of celebration.
For the past five years TF72 have been asked to help celebrate this
special day with a display at Cook and Phillip Park in central Sydney.
An early start, but this is a great day out with a huge crowd always
appreciative of the models and their Commanding Officers skills piloting
their vessels around a very tight area of water. Crowds in
excess of 250,000 mingle around the area of the park and its
festivities. The day for TF72 is always a fun one with
the highlight of the day being the TF72 Sydney Ferry Race.
This race, consisting of a course up and down the pond, is run by
between 5 and 8 models of Sydney Harbour Ferries, decorated by their
Captains. The enthusiastic crowd cheer for their
favourite model and the sound of cameras fill their air.
Australia Day 2007 will unfortunately not be happening due to
maintenance of the pond at Cook and Phillip park. Keep an
eye out for us in 2008.
