Australia Day 2004 Photo Gallery

For the fourth year running TASK FORCE 72 was invited to attend the City of Sydney festivities four Australia Day. This is small but wonderful venue. It is a long day, but fun with a built in crowd with estimates of over 150,000 people seeing our displays. We'll be back again next year. Thanks to Geoff Eastwood for his organisation of the TF72 "Great Ferry Boat Race" this year taken out by John Slater. Great effort with some of the decoration of the ferry's too.

Russ readies CHURCHILL for the day. Still early morning. In before 7am to avoid the road closures.

It's getting congested out here.

Already the crowd starts to look around. With the NRMA Motorfest next to us at Cook and Phillip Park we get a lot of early on lookers.

Allan Pew tip toeing around the pond. The closest he'll get to a bath in a while! Only kidding.

Camp gets set up

Craig with his little ship, HMAS HAWKESBURY a HUON Class mine hunter.

The fleet gathers for the day.

You can just about walk from one side of the pond to the other without getting wet. Great turn out of ships.

HAWKESBURY on the plane. I think it's a little fast Craig!

USS WINSTON S. CHURCHILL at anchor. She is about the largest model that can successfully negotiate the narrow pond.

Great photo of three Leander Class derivatives. HMCS ANNAPOLIS, HMAS PARRAMATTA (III) and HMS CLEOPATRA.

Some of the smaller models that can anchor in the fountain area where the larger ones are kept outside Bit like a sharknet!

Some of the fleet

"Walkies"! Ron Rosenberg takes his HMAS WARRAMUNGA for a walk.

The three wise monkey's? I think not! Sitting back and relaxing in the heat of the day.

Geoff has an unfortunate incident with his new Submarine, sorry, Manly ferry "Curl Curl" when a gust of wind got the better of her.

Fortunately no major damage. Only a bit damp.

No worse for wear after she is drained out.

Good lookin' rooster! I think the Anchor necklace is a bit much though!
