This year's Port Macquarie Model Boat Show, held over the weekend of July 24 and 25, was again well attended by modellers and general public and the combination of a relaxing time and great company.

All totalled some 40 TF 72 ships were on display including a cross section of our fleet sufficient to interest most of the passers by.

TF 72 members travelled from Queensland, Sydney and The Central Coast, as well as Canberra. The “travel” award, however, goes to Jonathon Evans who travelled from Canada, yep, you read it right, and was a surprise and most welcome visitor. Past President, Russ French, was completely lost for words and that, folks, is a very rare occurrence.

Models on display once again included USS Enterprise, Andy Hecke’s Spruance Destroyer (a brilliant model) as well Ron Rosenberg’s brand new Light House also in 1:72nd scale.

The TF 72 group managed to squeeze into a restaurant on the Saturday Night – all 22 of us. Service was bit slow but a very enjoyable evening was had by all.

It is difficult to go past this event as one of the highlights of our year; each year Dale Jordan does a great job in bringing together this event.

Many thanks to all the TF 72 members who made the trek to Port Macquarie. It really is a great time; lots of talk, lots of food and coffee, lots of just sitting around having a yarn, lots of fun.

Next year – can’t wait!

Part of the assembled fleet of TF72. Some 40 models from TF72 made their way to Port Macquarie. Ships from the 1700's through to ships only just commissioned into the Fleets of the world.

Some of the detail going into Andy Hecke's beautiful USS HAYLER (DD-997). The real HAYLER is now at the bottom of the Pacific Ocean having been decommissioned and sunk as a target.

The Canadian Naval Ensign flies high over Port Macquarie with the arrival of the Canadian continent, Jonathan, Jan and Suzanne, much to the surprise of Russ French who seemed to be the only one not to know what was going on .

The boat deck detail of USS WINSTON S. CHURCHILL a regular visitor to model ship exhibitions around Australia.

An F-14D makes her approach over the "ramp" of USS ENTERPRISE. This is a super sized model and measures some 4.8 metres

(15 feet in the old measurements).
