Navy Open Day 2003 Photo Gallery

On Sunday the 5th of October 2003 the Royal Australian Navy held its first Open Day in almost 2 years.   This coincided with Navy Week and is used to increase the publics knowledge of Australia's Navy and to show the public just what the Navy does and where all those dollars go.

Task Force 72 was once again invited to participate and show off some of our "Fleet".   Approximately 30 models were on display including many RAN ships, both past and present.  Many members also took the opportunity to visit and photograph the "Real" Ships open to the public which included HMA Ships SUCCESS, MELBOURNE and ANZAC and the visiting New Zealand Frigate HMNZS TE KAHA.

Russ tries to make Allan Collins a little more comfortable after a long day!!!

Some of the gang watching over the "Flock", sorry, "Fleet"!!!

USS ENTERPRISE being built by Craig Laughton with a bit of help from his friends, stands over the rest of the "Little" Fleet. This monster is over 4.5 metres in length and comes with her own trailer.

More of the public having a good look at the models on display. Ships from as far back and the American Civil War are built by TF72 members.

At certain periods throughout the day sometimes the crowd was 5 deep waiting to have a look.
