Spring Training, MossVale October 2004 Photo Gallery

A cold and slightly damp day at Moss Vale greeted our intrepid travellers for our Spring Traing Day at Southern Highland Wines lake.   Once the fog had lifted many models hit the cool waters for a sail.   Following a quick sail everyone retired to the Cellar door for a bit of tasting of SHW fine wines and a BBQ lunch to warm everyone up.

Geoff Eastwood lowers GODAVARI into the lake for a sail. .

The Russians take to the water for a patrol.   Both models are from members in Canberra. Peter Cole built the fine KRIVAK III Class Frigate whilst Bob Murdock built the slightly faster Missile Corvette.

The Indian  and British Navies practice boarding operations, or just swapping cuisine. A touch of beef vindaloo for a pork pie and a warm beer.

Mr Pew sets up his new Irish Fisheries Protection vessel.

INS GODAVARI looks very impressive.  This class is an interesting mix with a modified British hull and machinery, Russian weapons and fire control and Dutch radar systems.

GODAVARI is joined by several other models including a British Frigate and a new Arliegh Burke Class DDG under construction.

The Russians decide to join the party.

Karl Maurer from the ACT sets up his Type IX B U-boat model for a sail. Karl is one of the leaders in the building of operating submarine models in Australia. He has also taken his models overseas to regattas in Europe.

USS PINKNEY being built by Graham Pack. The white colour is the colour of the styrene sheet the superstructure of this model is made of. Most modellers use this material for their construction now..

HMS MOWHAWK built by Dave Manning. This is a fine model and sails very well for a narrow hulled vessel.

HMAS VENDETTA built by Phil Somerville.

Ships that pass in the night, sorry day!.

Allan Pew sets up his new model.

"See, told you it would work".

Mr Pew with his new form of radio Control. This is his new low cost version.

Allan turns off his radio.

GODAVARI rounds the island after navigation training for her crew.

Karl Mourer's beautiful Type IX B U-boat.   Karl is the main instigator of the Bi-annual Submaring regatta held in Canberra.

U-124 heads out looking for unsuspecting prey.

Just because Allan can do it doesn't mean you can Michael.

Allan looks on as Michael Brown tries his new "in contact" radio. This version saves on batteries.

Hopefully relations between these two are good or this could get nasty!

"Dive, Dive, Dive"

Still going!

Only the scope still up.

Shane Doyle's HMAS PERTH sails past at speed.

PERTH rocking and rolling.
