Australian Defence Force Academy Open Day 2006 Photo Gallery

For the sixth year TF72 was asked by the Australian Defence Force Academy in Canberra if we would like to come along and provide a display for their Open Day on Saturday the 26th of August.  Of course we jumped at the chance.  This is a great day out for everyone, including the wives and kids.   Activities are happening all day outside on the parade ground, in the pool (not just TF72) or in the air above.  This year was no exception with on ground displays by the ADFA students with mock battles, Navy helicopters on display, hot air balloons and displays by all the faculties of the University with some of the amazing things the students are producing.  In the skies above the crowd got to watch the "Red Berets" Army Parachuting Team and the fantastic Royal Australian Air Force "Roulettes" doing their magic in the clear blue Canberra skies.  In the pool, TF72 vessels kept the crowd of potential students and their families entertained with diving submarines, Aircraft Carriers, Destroyers and Patrol Boats.    A great lunch was provided by the Officer Cadets Mess and everyone went away happy with the feeling of "A job well done".   Everyone is looking forward to next years ADFA Open Day.

President of TF72, Russ French, showing Melanie through the SEAHAWK Navy Helicopter on display.

The "Red Berets" Army Parachute Team make a spectacular entry in to the parade ground.

One by one they came in right on the mark.

The "Roulettes" do their thing over ADFA.   These guys had the crowd "Ooohing and Aaaghhing" as they went through their fantastic low level aerobatic display.

High in the loop in their "Delta" formation which they hold through the entire loop with only a meter between wing tips.

The Navy SEAKING helicopter departs after being on static display throughout the day.  There will probably be only a small number of displays left where they can be seen be fore they retire from service and are replaced by the new MRH-90.

Some of the models of TF72 on display at the indoor pool.    About 35 models where on display this year.

Not mentioning any names, however it was an early start for some to get there!!

Wayne Baker sits back and relaxes next to some of the submarine models that hit the pool and amazed the crowd with how manouverable they were.

After a full day of talking to the crowd and future ADF pilots the S-70 SEAHAWK departs and heads back to it's home base at NAS NOWRA.
