The sky was full of clouds and drizzle, grey sky, grey water, the
only thing missing was a flock of RN frigates and it would have looked
like a typical day somewhere in the North Atlantic.
As it was the lake had refilled from the shocking low tide experienced
for the February run, and those who turned up had the lake to
themselves, shared only with the ever present ducks and a lone r/c
yachtsman who seemed to quite enjoy the 'bracing' temperatures (about 14
degrees at midday).
Local member John Konda flew the flag (or should that be the Soviet
Ensign) with his Krivak III Feliks Dzerzinski patrolling the grey
conditions, obviously on the lookout for potential defectors.
Mike James made his way up from Sydney, where it was cool, overcast and
dry, to WWF where it was cold, overcast and wet, to give his new boat
its first run out.
The Australian Coast Guard Vessel Nemesis, fresh from the builders yard,
undertook a series of officer of the watch manoeuvres with Dzerzinski,
undeterred by her complete lack of paint and obviously yet to be
completed look.
A late attendee was John Quick who braved the elements to give his
partially completed Flower class a mechanical test run.
A few curious members of the public turned up, despite the inclement
conditions, however the weather kept most people close to home and
hearth.
See you at the Maritime Model Club of NSW's Annual Regatta next week.
