St George Model Boat Club Regatta May 2007 Photo Gallery

Members who turned up were Ron Rosenberg, Geoff Eastwood, Allan Pew, Phil Somerville, Mike James, Lindsay Muxlow, co St George members Bruce Smith & Mark Carney, CO Hubertus members Jim Campion & Chris Utley, also re-new (AWOL) TF72 member Dennis Walker

The weather was magnificent, the hospitality & catering were faultless as usual, the water was polluted as usual & its still a nightmare trying to get a model into the water, the floating wharf is way too high to work off & all other access to waters edge is taken up by humongous ferries tied alongside, the only other access is a concrete ramp about 4m wide & you have to walk at least a metre into the water to get some depth, consequently, Geoff & Allan & Indian frigates were the only ones to get wet.

This regatta is turning out to be a day to socialise, partake of food & (soft) drink & a magnificent range of home made soups, & catch up with old friends & acquaintances, which makes it a worthwhile day.

Other interesting models present (to the photographer) were a 1/144 scale carrier USS Nimitz, sort of! A beautiful little 1/65 scale pilot ship John Oxley, which is a full scale restoration project of the Maritime Museum on Sydney Harbour , several old side paddle ferries, which were a real treat to see running together, & 2 loutish over weight & overaged male models in Sydney for "Fashion Week" who had been hired to hold up a corner of the food tent in case a southerly blew in, somehow I don't think the matching cap & T shirt will be a big seller in Myer this winter.
