Regatta 2006 Photo Gallery

What a fabulous weekend! Great weather, great food, great company and great models. What more could we ask for! Set up was done bright and early Saturday with everyone pitching in to make up our "Base camp" which was one of the best set ups we've had for years. Sailing started just after 10am and several new models took to the water for the very first time.   A great lunch followed by a great afternoon on the water with a special guest dropping by during the afternoon.  Peter Collins, former state MP and  opposition leader and now business man and Commander in the RANR, dropped by to say hello and visit old friends.   He was also able to judge our 2006 "Bravo Zulu" award for best model.   This was awarded to Wolfgang Nebart's superb model of USS CHOSIN (CG-65) a modern "Ticonderoga Class" Guided Missile Cruiser.   Other award winners were a very deserving John Konda of Woodford with his beautiful model of the converted Liberty ship/Depot ship USS PALAWAN who took out this years coveted "Wentworth Shield".     The "Broken Anchor" went to Allan Pew after a coin toss with Graham Pack after an action packed Sunday morning of maneuvers.

Overall, we had almost 70 models in attendance over the weekend with over 40 models at anchor on Saturday.   A great sight to see.   A big thank you to all those that attended the weekend and helped with various tasks throughout the weekend.   We almost had to cancel due to the bush fire activity over the week prior, however we were lucky and the fires were kept under control. A little smoke about, but nothing to be too alarmed about.

Also a big thank you to Chris Bailey and the Drum Corps of the Riverwood Air League who performed throughout Saturday.    Lastly, we would like to thanks the Blue Mountains City Council for their support, not only this weekend, but over the past 11 years.   If you would like to see some footage of the weekend and some interviews with members, please visit www.bluemountains.tv.

See you next year.

There are some strange fish in my lake this weekend

Another new model coming along from the dockyard of Ron Rosenberg.  This is IJN FUYUTSUKA which is nearing completion.

Sunday Morning, with a little smoke haze around, a few of us decided to have a little fun.

Several models had sailed and teamed up.  We were soon joined by two Indian vessels.

Then were soon joined by two British vessels.  Eventually we would have nine vessels running together.

Then the Aussies got involved too.  It was a great set of manouvers with only one slight altercation between the US and the RAN.  Of course the Indians couldn't be out done so one of them had to run into the buoy line.
A lot of fun had by all.
