Akuna Bay, 2005 Photo Gallery

Well, from the look of the weather on Friday, it was not going to be a good weekend, but how wrong can we be! It ended up hot and fine for most of the weekend and what a fun time it was. It took the Executive of the Association to "fly the flag" for TF72 over the weekend with just Ron Rosenberg and Russ French attending. Oh well, more free beer for the two of us. (yes, they put on drinks and nibblies each afternoon for all those displaying their wares!). There was no clash for frequencies either, so we ran for approximately 3 hours each day non-stop in crystal clear waters and with a captive audience. We got a chance to have a good look at some of the amazing pleasure craft for sale and on display at the marina. What a collection of beautiful vessels with some valued at well over $1m.

Thanks to Ron for coming up each day even thought he wasn't in the best of health and also to Richard Wolf and Paula McGowan of Dalbora Marinas for their help with getting us up there and looking after us.

Don't worry if you missed out, we will have another day up there soon.

Just one of the fine vessels for sale. This one going for just over $550,000.

Ron standing guard over the TF72 fleet at Akuna Bay.

It was great having the store room behind us to store our gear during the day and then being able to leave it at night nice and secure.

The banner flying high over the fleet

Ron having a chat to some of the on lookers. Saturday was a bit quiet, but Sunday made up for it

The "Stack and Rack" system they use for storing smaller boats. They are stored three high and an estimate is they can store 150 boats like this

USS WINSTON S. CHURCHILL cuts a fine wake in the bay. Great area to run with crystal clear water

CHURCHILL turning away from incoming boats. She escorted many pleasure vessels to and from their berths.

aTEN-SHUN!

Ron's fleet on display

Just a small part of the marina. Vessels came in all shapes and sizes with a price to match

This is one I had my eyes on

CHURCHILL on display when she wasn't doing patrols of the bay.
