ADFA Open Day, 2005 Photo Gallery

The Australian Defence Force Academy held their open day on Saturday the 27th of August 2005.  This has become an annual event and is a great opportunity for young men and women to have a look at a possible career in the Australian Defence Forces and getting their degree at the same time.  TF72 has attended for the last 5 years and this year had a great turn out for the day.   It was lovely fine day outside and the pool was very inviting for us model boaters! ADFA put on a great day with some great events during the day to keep everyone busy in and out of the pool.  Between flypast of aircraft and aerobatic displays above us, I think we all had a great time.

Many thanks for all those that travelled so far to be there for the day, especially Chris Rogers who came down from Brisbane with his beautiful HMS INVINCIBLE and HMS PLYMOUTH. We received a lovely letter of thanks from ADFA. Click on the link below.

Charles Robinson's HMAS ADELAIDE on the waters of the indoor pool.

Dave Manning's HMCS HAIDA nearly finished and looking great.

The guys chatting around the pool.

ADELAIDE, HAIDA and HMAS VAMPIRE of Alex Goodison stand off in the middle of the pool.

The RAAF Balloon. They gave joy flights to the public until it got too hot and they simply couldn't get any more hot air in it. Canberra is a great place for supply of hot air!!!

The other use of the pool was for the ADFA Cadets over water obstacle course. This was great fun to watch.

The RAAF Aerobatic Team "The Roulettes" do their thing over ADFA.

At the top of the loop. The six PC-9's hold it together.

The PC-9's break away during the show. They did two spectacular performances during the day which had the crowd cheering for more.

Charles Robinson's HMAS PARRAMATTA I on the pool.

Jim Campion's HMAS PARRAMATTA IV on the pool. Eventually all four PARRAMATTA's will be built.

Kerry James' HMAS MELBOURNE ties up alongside the poolside ahead of Chris Rogers' HMS INVINCIBLE. Chris came down from Brisbane to attend.

Karl Maurer and Allan Collins chat "Submarines" of course. Karl ran his beautiful Kriegsmarine U-Boat during the day.
